Custody and Reporting
Fidelity offers a comprehensive range of custody and reporting services, including asset servicing, cash management and lending, and trust services. We'll administer your assets leveraging the power and operational experience of one of the strongest brokerage platforms in the business. Explore how Fidelity can handle your clients' assets with the care they deserve, while making a positive impact on your operation.
Asset Servicing
As a Fidelity client, you can simplify and streamline your operations while consolidating assets with a single custodian. Fidelity is one of the nation's most highly automated brokerage processing firms, offering the size, scalability, technology, and service experience that can help you strengthen your business.
Asset Protection
Brokerage accounts maintained with Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC ("FBS"), a Fidelity Investments company, are protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation ("SIPC") up to $500,000 (including cash claims limited to $100,000). For details, please see www.sipc.org. FBS has arranged for additional insurance protection for cash and securities to supplement its SIPC coverage. Neither coverage protects against a decline in the market value of securities.
Client Statements, Trade Confirms, and Tax Reports
Our periodic account statements summarize investment positions, transaction activities for the current period, and cost basis. Statements integrate brokerage assets, assets held in trust, assets held away1, non-marketable securities, and cash management—all on one report. You can add your firm's branding onto the statement to reinforce your value-added relationship with your clients.
What's more, we deliver electronic copies of your clients' confirms and statements to you for convenient viewing on our secure Web site. Our annual tax reporting and documentation services include tax lot accounting, a year-end summary statement, consolidated 1099 tax forms, and retirement Form 5498.
Tax Lot Accounting
Fidelity's tax lot accounting service is an easy-to-use tool that enables you to provide your clients with essential cost basis and gain/loss information on their nonretirement positions. This information can aid you in developing sound tax strategies for your clients.
Prime Brokerage Services
Fidelity Capital Markets' prime brokerage services let you consolidate custody of assets, while giving you the flexibility to access products, research, and services from other firms. Through Fidelity Capital Markets Services2, you can avoid the complexity and expense of maintaining accounts at multiple brokerage firms, while offering centralized client account recordkeeping, consolidated, comprehensive statements and trade confirmations.
Cash Management and Lending
Due to the complex and often illiquid structure of their assets, your high-net-worth clients may have special cash management or borrowing needs. Fidelity offers services designed to help you meet those needs.
Individual Directed Brokerage Account
The Individual Directed Brokerage Account was designed to help you meet the needs of clients who may choose to create and manage their own investment portfolio. They can make trades, access one of the largest mutual fund supermarkets in the industry, and potentially benefit from account protection1, while you are able to view their account and offer the benefit of your advice and trusted counsel on their investment decisions.
Brokerage Account
Our brokerage account serves as a financial organizer that enables your high-net-worth clients to manage their day-to-day finances from a single source. The account provides online access to account information through Fidelity.com; checking and debit card options, consolidated account statements; year-end tax documentation and a summary report; an optional margin feature, and more.
Collateral Accounts
Our collateral accounts program can help you quickly accommodate a client who may want to pledge securities held in his or her brokerage account as collateral for a third-party loan from a bank. Since the pledged securities are placed in a new separate brokerage account, you manage the rest of the portfolio without having to manually flag the collateralized securities.
Margin Borrowing
This powerful feature of our brokerage account offers your clients an opportunity to leverage the value of their existing portfolio to take advantage of investment opportunities or to meet immediate financial needs. By using existing securities as collateral, your client can establish a line of credit, at a preferred interest rate, that can be used for any purpose.2
Foreign Exchange Services
Successfully transacting a deal in a foreign country requires not only a sound knowledge of financial global markets, but also of the foreign exchange landscape. Through Fidelity FOREX, Inc., an affiliate of Fidelity Capital Markets Services3, you have access to a wide range of advisory and consulting services, including strategies for mitigating foreign exchange risk, hedging options and market timing, and comprehensive fundamental and technical analysis of global currency markets.
Personal Trust Services
As affluent Baby Boomers age, trust services are becoming integral in helping to manage assets and ensure the transfer of personal wealth to successive generations. Fidelity provides an array of trust services from fully outsourced solutions to specialized trust reporting to assist you in ensuring an orderly intergenerational transfer of your clients' wealth.
Administrative Trustee Services1
If your client has a trust requiring a corporate trustee, co-trustee, or successor trustee, he or she can appoint Fidelity Personal Trust Company2 as a corporate trustee. We assume custody, accounting, tax and discretionary responsibilities. You retain the investment management responsibilities and remain the primary relationship contact.
Agent for Trustee Services
As a trustee, you or your client may need assistance administering the trust, including complex accounting, recordkeeping, and tax-reporting requirements. The Fidelity Personal Trust Company can perform these services on the trustee's behalf. Your client may consider naming the Trust Company as successor trustee to step in at a future date.
Fidelity Reporting Services3
Provide your clients with the specialized reporting required for administering a trust. Your clients can get principal and income accounting, accrual calculations, tax lot accounting, marketable and non-marketable securities record-keeping, and reporting of assets held away4. You and your clients will be able to view, monitor, and track their investment portfolios.
Trustee Referral Program5
Have a client seeking a corporate trustee? Our Trustee Referral Program can help simplify the trust delegation process by generating and managing referrals to participating federally or state chartered, advisor-friendly trust institutions. The trust company accepts investment responsibility of your client's trust assets while you retain investment management responsibilities.
Trust Custody
Let Fidelity serve as the custodian of your trust assets-we're one of the most experienced custodians in the business. While you manage trust assets, we act as their custodian and handle all of the administrative, reporting and fiduciary responsibilities.
If you already have existing trust company relationships we can provide you with a powerful combination of integrated trust accounting and brokerage through our trust custody solution. You can choose from a fully disclosed or an omnibus custody model, depending on your needs and preferences. Fully disclosed custody will provide access to our comprehensive brokerage capabilities, while omnibus custody will aggregate your trading and settlement activity through a series of omnibus accounts linked to a master settlement account.
